How do I tell what Microsoft Office version I have?

How do I find out what version of Microsoft Office I have installed and if it is currently supported?

Windows 10 and Windows 11 users

Open Outlook, Word or Excel

Goto File > Office Account

Your Microsoft office version is listed under “Product Information”

Example below is “Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus”

Look in “Control Panel” > “Programs” > “Programs and Features”

What versions of Microsoft Office are still supported and current?

In 2026, the currently supported versions of Microsoft Office are Office 365, Office 2021 and Office 2024

All currently supported office versions need activating by logging into a valid Microsoft Account.

If you have Office 2019, Office 2016, Office 2013, Office, Office 2010 or earlier, you may find they have difficulty working with Windows 10 (because it is no longer receiving updates) and Windows 11 (because of incompatibility issues)

Office version’s may include stand-alone versions such as “Home”, “Home & Student”, “Home & Business”, “Professional”, “Professional Plus”, “Standard”, “Basic” and “365 Home”, “365 Family”, “365 Business Basic”, “365 Business Standard” etc.

The only downloadable versions of Microsoft Office currently (2026) are Office 365 or Office 2024

The only downloadable version of Microsoft Office currently (2026) are, by subscription Microsoft 365/Office 365 or as a stand-alone perpetual license, “Office 2024” both which will only install on Windows 11.
