Is my iMac, Mac Mini or Macbook currently supported and receiving security updates?
As of February 2026, Apple generally supports only the three most recent macOS versions (currently Tahoe 26, Sequoia 15 and Sonoma 14) with full security updates.
So if your Mac can be updated to any of the above 3 MacOS versions, it will continue to be supported
This means that the oldest Macs supported right now is the 2017 iMac Pro, but only while Apple still supports macOS Sequoia security updates.
macOS Sonoma is the oldest OS still supported. You can install macOS Sonoma on any of these Mac models or newer.

The next Macs to lose support will be those that cannot update from macOS Sonoma, for which support will likely end in September 2026. At this time, the 2018 and 2019 MacBook Air will lose support.
The 2018 MacBook Pro and Mac mini, and the 2019 iMac should continue to get support until fall 2027 as they can run macOS Sequoia
Older versions, including macOS 13 (Ventura) and earlier, are no longer supported and face significant security risks.
Which Mac do I have?
Click on the Apple symbol in the top left corner of the Mac and select “About this Mac”

The important things to note here are the Model, Year, Chip and macOS.
If you Mac is dated 2017 or older it will not be able to be updated to the three supported macOS versions.
Try System Settings > Software Update > Check for updates.
If updates are available, install ASAP. You may need to repeat the process a number of times.
If your device is newer than 2017 but refuses to update to Tahoe 26, Sequoia 15 or Sonoma 14, try doing so by clicking on these Apple links
