Protect yourself from cyber attacks by updating Edge, Chrome and Firefox regularly

Your web browsers should be updating themselves automatically to protect you from threats and attacks…. however…

Sometimes they need a little nudge. We show you how to check they are updated against the latest threats.

It will take you only a few seconds to check your web browser is up-to-date to protect you from scammers and malicious actors. Simply do the following

Google Chrome

Open Google chrome and click on the three vertical dots in the top right of Google Chrome, select “Settings” from the menu

Click on “About Chrome” in the bottom left

and it thiswill force an update… or inform you that Chrome is already up to date

Setup Automatic Google Updates on Windows 10/11

in Search window type “services.msc” then hit “Enter” or “Open”

Scroll down the list of services until you find one or more service starting with “Google”

Click on each one and make sure the “Startup Type” is set to “Automatic”. Hit OK and Apply. Repeat this for each Google Service

Microsoft Edge

Open Microsoft Edge and click on the three horizontal dates in the top right of Microsoft Edge, now select “Settings” from the menu

Click on “About Microsoft Edge” in the bottom left. If Edge is up to date it will tell you, else you may see it actually updating as in this example

The browser is now updated

Setup Automatic Microsoft Edge Updates on Windows 10/11

in Search window type “services.msc” then hit “Enter” or “Open”

Scroll down the list of services until you find one or more service starting with “Microsoft Edge”

Click on each one and make sure the “Startup Type” is set to “Automatic”. Hit OK and Apply. Repeat this for each Google Microsoft Edge Service

Mozilla Firefox

Open Firefox

Click on the top right “three vertical lines”

And click “Help” from the menu, then “About Firefox”
